I want to take the guesswork out of selling your car. I analyze market data, decode DMV title laws, and test out online car buyers to give you a straight answer on whether it's worth holding out for a higher price or if you're better off taking the most convenient offer and moving on.

The bottom line: Carvana focuses on newer vehicles under ten years old in good condition. You get an online quote in about two minutes and they pick up from your home. The downside is pickup fees that can reach $600 depending on your location.

Peddle buys cars in any condition, including junk cars, salvage titles, and vehicles that won’t start. They include free towing everywhere and typically complete sales within 48 hours. However, they won’t buy cars with active loans.

We tested both services with vehicles in January 2026. For our 2018 Tesla Model 3 with 73,000 miles, Carvana offered $14,200 while Peddle offered $4,980. For our 2007 Chevy Trailblazer that doesn’t run, Carvana wouldn’t make an offer while Peddle offered $355.

The choice comes down to your car’s condition. Use Carvana if you have a newer car in decent shape and want the highest offer. Use Peddle if your car has major problems, high mileage, or a salvage title since Carvana either won’t make an offer or will offer very little.

Compare offers from multiple services with Sell Car Advisor before deciding.

Newer Car? Carvana. Problem Car? Peddle.

Carvana offered $14,200 for a clean Tesla. Peddle offered $355 for a non-running Trailblazer that Carvana wouldn’t quote.

Carvana vs. Peddle: Detailed Comparison

Both services give quotes that stay valid for 7 days. The main difference is what they’ll buy. Carvana needs cars that start and drive. They told us directly: “We need to be able to reliably start and safely drive the cars we buy.” If you’re selling a car with a loan, only Carvana can help since Peddle requires clear titles.

The quote process differs between them. Carvana asks detailed questions about condition and checks your answers against CarFax and AutoCheck. Peddle keeps it simpler with basic questions about year, make, model, and condition. They work with salvage yards and auto recyclers who care more about parts value than perfect paint.

Our tests showed a clear pattern. For the driveable Tesla, Carvana offered nearly three times more ($14,200 vs $4,980). For the non-running Trailblazer, Carvana wouldn’t even make an offer while Peddle offered $355.

Pickup works differently too. Carvana sends their own employee who does a 20-minute inspection. Peddle uses third-party tow companies who inspect and transport in one trip. Both can adjust the price if the car doesn’t match what you described.

Fees matter here. Peddle always includes free towing, even for cars with major mechanical problems. Carvana charges $0 to $600 for pickup depending on your distance from their locations. You can avoid Carvana’s fee by dropping off at one of their vending machines.

Where to Sell Your Car?

If your car runs and drives, start with Carvana. They offered nearly three times more than Peddle for our driveable Tesla. Just factor in potential pickup fees when comparing offers.

If your car doesn’t run, Peddle is likely your only option between these two. Carvana told us clearly they won’t buy non-drivable vehicles. Peddle will still make an offer and includes free towing.

Neither service works for financed vehicles through Peddle, or for people who want maximum money. For that, check out selling your car privately.
