The bottom line: Peddle buys cars in any condition, including those that won’t start, have salvage titles, or need major repairs. However, they redirect higher-value vehicles to a partner network, so you may not get a direct quote for newer cars.
CarGurus connects you with dealers who want to buy your car and often delivers strong offers for newer, popular vehicles. However, many cars get no offers at all, and dealer prices sometimes change after inspection.
We tested both services with three vehicles in January 2026. CarGurus only made an offer on 1 out of 3 cars, while Peddle offered on 2 out of 3. Neither service could cover all three vehicles on its own.
The right choice depends on what you’re selling. If you have a newer car in good condition that dealers want, CarGurus can get you competitive offers from its dealer network. If your car is older, damaged, or has a branded title, Peddle is likely your best option since CarGurus will probably reject it.
Neither service works well for rare or exotic vehicles, and both prioritize convenience over getting you the most money possible.

Peddle vs. CarGurus Offers
We requested quotes from both companies for several vehicles. Here’s what each one offered:
2018 Tesla Model 3 with 73k miles and clean title:
2022 Ford F-150 XL with 72.5k miles and clean title:
2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS with 257k miles, doesn’t drive, exterior damage:
CarGurus showed “No offers found” for the Trailblazer and suggested AutoNation as a partner. However, AutoNation also doesn’t buy non-running vehicles, leaving sellers without options on that platform.
For the Ford F-150, Peddle redirected us to their partner network instead of giving a direct quote. This typically happens with higher-value vehicles that fall outside Peddle’s usual price range.
Peddle vs. CarGurus: Detailed Comparison
Both services give you a quote in about 2 minutes, and both offer quotes that last 7 days. The difference is what happens next. CarGurus offers expire after 7 days or 250 additional miles, whichever comes first. Peddle gives you 7 days to decide without a mileage limit.
CarGurus gives you two paths: sell 100% online with home pickup, or drive to a local dealer for same-day payment. Peddle sends a tow truck to your location within 24 to 48 hours and handles everything there. If your car won’t start, Peddle’s free towing makes more sense since you can’t drive it to a dealer.
In our tests, CarGurus only made an offer on 1 of 3 vehicles, the $24,500 Ford F-150 with clean title. It rejected the 2018 Tesla Model 3 despite its clean title, suggesting its dealer network is selective even among newer cars. Peddle offered $4,980 for the Tesla and $355 for the Trailblazer but couldn’t quote the F-150 directly.
Both services may adjust offers after looking at your car. CarGurus dealer offers are recommendations, not locked-in prices. Many sellers find the final offer changes after the dealer inspects the car in person. Peddle’s driver inspects your car at pickup and may lower the offer if they find issues you didn’t mention, like a missing catalytic converter or unreported damage.
CarGurus handles loan payoffs for financed vehicles through both their online service and dealer network. Peddle only buys vehicles you own outright and can’t work with lenders. On the other hand, Peddle can sometimes buy cars with salvage titles or even without a title in some cases, which CarGurus won’t touch.

Where to Sell Your Car
If you have a newer car in good condition with a clean title, start with CarGurus. Their dealer network offered $24,500 for the Ford F-150 in our test. Popular makes like Ford, Toyota, Honda, and Chevrolet tend to get the most interest from dealers.
If your car is older, damaged, or has a branded title, Peddle is the better choice. They offered $4,980 for a clean title Tesla and $355 for a non-running Trailblazer. CarGurus rejected both of these vehicles entirely.
Your car’s age and condition matter most here. If you’re selling a Tesla or another EV and CarGurus shows no offers, try Carvana next. They offered $14,200 for the same Tesla Model 3 that CarGurus rejected in our test.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which offers more, Peddle or CarGurus?

For the 2018 Tesla Model 3, Peddle offered $4,980 while CarGurus showed no offers at all.
CarGurus tends to offer more for newer cars that dealers want to resell. Peddle offers more when CarGurus has no offers at all, which happened for 2 of our 3 test vehicles.
How long do Peddle and CarGurus quotes last?
Both services give you 7 days. CarGurus adds a mileage limit though. Their offers expire after 7 days or 250 additional miles, whichever comes first.
Peddle’s quotes simply last 7 days with no mileage restrictions.
Which has better reviews, Peddle or CarGurus?
Peddle has 4.7 stars from 203,480 reviews on Trustpilot and 4.5 stars from 9,071 reviews on Google.
CarGurus has 3.6 stars from 1,163 reviews on Trustpilot and 2.8 stars from 107 reviews on Google.
Both carry an A+ BBB rating. The most common CarGurus complaint involves dealer offers changing after inspection.
For Peddle, the most common issue is price adjustments when the car’s condition doesn’t match what was described online.
Do Peddle or CarGurus change offers at pickup?
Both may adjust offers. Peddle’s driver inspects at pickup and may lower the offer if they find unreported damage or missing parts, like a catalytic converter that wasn’t mentioned.
Describing your car accurately upfront helps keep the quoted price.
CarGurus dealer offers are recommendations, not firm commitments. Some sellers report the final price changing after the dealer inspects the car in person.
The online CarGurus offer tends to be more stable since it includes a self-inspection step.
Which is faster, Peddle or CarGurus?
For same-day cash, CarGurus dealer visits are faster. You drive to the dealer, they inspect your car, and you leave with payment that day.
Peddle typically picks up within 24 to 48 hours and pays at pickup. Their online sales take 1 to 3 business days via bank transfer. Same-day pickup is possible with Peddle in some areas, but it’s not guaranteed.
How do Peddle and CarGurus pay sellers?
Peddle pays at pickup, usually by check. Cash is sometimes possible for smaller amounts. The payment method depends on the tow company handling your pickup.
CarGurus gives you more options. You can get a bank transfer in 1 to 3 business days, a check when they pick up your car, or same-day payment at a dealer location.
Can I sell a financed car to Peddle or CarGurus?
Only through CarGurus. They handle loan payoffs through both their online platform and dealer network. If your car is worth more than you owe, they send you the difference.
If you owe more than the offer, you’ll need to cover the gap.
Peddle requires a clear title showing you own the car outright. They can’t work with lenders or leasing companies. You must pay off the loan before Peddle can buy your car.
