The bottom line: Wheelzy buys cars in almost any condition, including cars that won’t start, wrecked cars and cars with a blown engine.
You get an offer online or by phone in minutes. After you accept, a local tow company picks the car up for free within 48 hours, sometimes the same day, and pays you in cash or by check at your door.
You’ll get less than a private sale would bring, but the car is gone in a day or two, with no ads or meetings with strangers.
In our hand test of three damaged cars, CashForCars offered more than Wheelzy on two, and Wheelzy tied Peddle for the top offer on the third.

How Does Selling to Wheelzy Work?
1. Request Your Offer
Go to wheelzy.com or call (833) 985-1374. It needs basic details: vehicle year, make, model, mileage, and condition.
Answer the condition questions the way Wheelzy means them. A car counts as driving only if it’s safe at highway speeds, and as starting only if it starts on its own battery without a jump. A small crack means the windshield isn’t intact.
Say whether the catalytic converter is the original one, because Wheelzy’s terms name a missing or replaced converter as a reason to change the offer at pickup.
2. Compare Offers Before You Accept
Wheelzy’s offer has no expiry date. Some sellers saw an online offer drop within a few days, so get quotes from other buyers soon and compare numbers.
Tip: Some sellers say Wheelzy matched a higher quote from another buyer, and it matched one in our own quote test. Get quotes from Peddle, CarBrain, or CashForCars too, and take the highest.
3. Book Your Pickup
Accept the offer and Wheelzy sets up a pickup time. Plan to set aside about 4 hours that day since tow truck arrival times vary.
Wheelzy picks up within 48 hours after you accept, sometimes the same day if you need your car gone quickly.
4. Driver Inspects the Vehicle
The tow truck operator takes a quick look at your car to check that it matches what you described, and looks at your paperwork.
This takes about 10 to 15 minutes.
Note: This inspection confirms vehicle condition and title status. Problems you didn’t mention can lead to a lower price at pickup.
5. Collect Your Payment
The driver gives you cash or a check, you sign the title over, and the driver loads your car and drives away.
The whole thing takes 20 to 30 minutes from when the driver gets there.
Whether you get cash or a check depends on the tow company, but ask for cash if you can, because some sellers have reported check problems in BBB complaints.
What Kind of Offers Does Wheelzy Make?
Wheelzy focuses on vehicles with problems: crashed cars, mechanical failures, old cars with lots of miles and salvage titles.
Its offers come from local buyers, junkyards and recyclers who bid on your car through Wheelzy.
The instant offer isn’t always there. In a separate quote test of ours on Wheelzy’s own website, it gave an instant offer on 63 of 145 cars, all between $409 and $501, and asked for a phone call on the other 82.

Wheelzy Questions Answered
How does Wheelzy compare to similar junk car buyers?
It comes close to Peddle on old cars with problems and falls behind it on newer ones. In same-day quotes through our comparison form, Peddle offered more on 60% of cars 20 years and older that were damaged, had a mechanical problem or didn’t run, but the two were typically only $87 apart.
On damaged or non-running cars under 10 years old, Peddle offered more on 81%, typically $1,053 more.
What documents does Wheelzy need?
Bring your vehicle title, a photo ID, and any state-required paperwork. If there are several names on the title, every owner may need to sign, depending on your state and how the names are joined.
Does Wheelzy buy cars that don’t run?
Yes, whether the engine is blown, the transmission has failed or the car won’t crank at all.
How does Wheelzy pay?
In cash or by check, handed over at pickup. Wheelzy’s terms also allow electronic checks and mailed checks, and a check isn’t money until it clears: one seller’s took three days.
Can I sell a car I still owe money on?
Only once the lender has released the title. A title that shows a lien needs the lender’s signature or a separate lien release letter, so pay the loan off and get that letter before you book the pickup.
Will my price change at pickup?
Only if the car doesn’t match what you described, or an original part such as the catalytic converter is missing or replaced. Then the offer can change at pickup, and you can turn the new price down.
What if I change my mind?
Wheelzy’s terms call an accepted offer binding but name no cancellation fee, and you can turn down a lower price at pickup. To stop its calls and texts, reply STOP to a Wheelzy text, and fill in the quote form only once, since each new form can open a separate file that calls you too.
How should I get ready for pickup?
Take out your belongings, remove the license plates (they stay on the car in Alaska, California, Hawaii and Minnesota), and find every key and the title. Move the car out of any garage to a spot a tow truck can reach, because Wheelzy’s tow companies aren’t allowed to go into one, even at ground level.
Where does Wheelzy work?
In every state. A local tow company does each pickup, so if none has called you within a day of accepting, ask Wheelzy to assign another.
Do I need to be there for pickup?
Yes, or someone selling it on your behalf, because the title has to be signed and the payment handed over. If you can’t be there at the booked time, call Wheelzy before the pickup.
Can Wheelzy pick up today?
Sometimes. Wheelzy picks up within 48 hours after you accept, sometimes the same day, but its tow companies plan their routes in advance, so same day isn’t guaranteed. If you need the car gone today, call Wheelzy instead of using the form.
Does Wheelzy buy wrecked or totaled cars?
Yes, with any amount of damage, from a small scratch to a total loss that can’t be driven, flood damage included.
What if I lost my title?
Depending on where the car is, Wheelzy can sometimes buy it without one, so call Wheelzy before you order a duplicate. If it needs the title, get a replacement title from your state’s DMV first.
Does Wheelzy buy cars with missing parts?
Yes, as long as the engine and transmission are still in the car. Wheels, the catalytic converter or the interior can be gone, but list what’s missing on the form, because the offer is priced on what you describe.
What won’t Wheelzy buy?
Cars made before 1981, and anything that isn’t a car, SUV, van or truck: motorcycles, ATVs, RVs, campers and boats. It doesn’t buy parts on their own either.
Is Wheelzy legit?
Yes. Wheelzy LLC is based in Orlando, Florida, and is accredited by the Better Business Bureau with an A- rating. The BBB shows 147 complaints over three years, and the ones from sellers are about prices cut at pickup and about checks.
Is Wheelzy safe, or is it a scam?
It isn’t a scam. You’re paid at your door, and you can turn down a lower price at pickup.
Searches for ‘wheelzy fake check’ come from sellers whose check bounced or was stopped after the car had gone, so ask for cash, and don’t sign the title until the payment is in your hand.
What does Wheelzy do with the cars?
It passes them on. Local buyers, junkyards and recyclers bid on each car through Wheelzy, and the buyer whose bid wins takes the car. Cars that can be fixed go back on the road, and the rest are recycled or taken apart for parts.
That’s also why a local buyer, not Wheelzy, sometimes decides the price at pickup.
What do Wheelzy reviews say?
Wheelzy has 4.8/5 on Google from 28,155 reviews and 4.7/5 on Trustpilot. Reddit threads are generally favorable.
The praise is about speed. Sellers describe a quote in minutes, pickup within a day or two, and staff who answer the phone. The complaints are about money. Trustpilot and Reddit posts say first offers felt low, and some BBB complaints mention price changes at pickup.
