Step 2: Check your paperwork and see a notary
Get the title and a photo ID out before you accept anything. The name on the title has to be yours, and no lender can still be listed on it.

Step 3: Accept an offer and book the pickup
Accept the offer through the website or by phone. The buyer passes the job to a tow company near you, and that company calls to set a pickup window.
You meet the driver, hand over the notarized title, and take the money. If someone else will do that for you, tell the buyer when you book.
Step 4: Get the car ready for the tow truck
Tell the tow company if the car is down a long lane or a gravel road. Clear the snow around it before the truck comes.
Take everything out of the car before the truck comes: glovebox, trunk, door pockets, under the seats and the spare tire well. Take off any toll pass or parking permit.
Plates stay with the seller. Take them off before the truck arrives.

Step 5: Hand over the title and take payment
The driver looks the car over and takes the title you signed at the notary. Leave everything else on the title as it is.
Payment is usually cash or check. It depends on the tow company.
You are paid before the car goes on the truck, so count the cash or read the check before it moves.
Keep any paper the driver leaves with you, and check your inbox, because some buyers email the bill of sale and the confirmation instead. On your bill of sale, the buyer is the company from your offer confirmation, not the driver.
Step 6: Deal with the plates and keep your proof of sale
Plates: transfer your plates to another vehicle you own, or destroy them.
Cancel the insurance after the car has gone.

Can You Sell a Junk Car Without a Title in Wyoming?
Not directly. Wyoming wants a title for the sale, but a car you cannot prove you own can be titled first.
Option 1: Title it with an affidavit of ownership. W.S. 31-2-105 allows a title to be issued without a bond for a vehicle valued under $2,500 using an affidavit of vehicle ownership, so a seller who cannot prove ownership can obtain a title before selling. The form: Affidavit of Ownership (Form MV-147), used to obtain a title when proof of ownership is missing.
Option 2: Replace the lost title, then sell. Every buyer can then quote the car.

Getting a Replacement Title in Wyoming
What a replacement title takes in Wyoming:

A car on a Colorado or Montana title can be junked in Wyoming on that title. Name the state on the form, and follow that title’s own signing rules.
A lost out-of-state title comes from the state that issued it.
